Class,
We have double checked the valve that is WV5, it is a
Swagelok B-18RF8 needle valve with a regulating stem, which, when
checking the literature from
the manufacturer, is a 1/2" 0.375 orifice valve in the series 18.
The Cv for this valve as a function of number of turns is in the
Swagelok specifications that are posted on our web site or available at
the link below:
http://www.swagelok.com/downloads/webcatalogs/EN/MS-01-164.pdf
(regulating stem; page 4; black curve).
Look on page 5 under Female NPT, the last one (see that
the catalog number, given for stainless steel (SS) is the same as the
one Jithendar found with a B (brass)).
These are the Cv values I used in my handout.
Best wishes,
Dr. Morrison
Good
Morning Dr. Morrison,
I checked the valve, but I couldn't find any valve number on it.
I could see only B-18RF8(3000psi @ 100°F) with some serial number
and swagelok name on it.
Thanks,
Jithendar.

Subject: a question about the lab set up
Good evening Jithendar,
When you have a chance, could you please look closely at the WV5
needle valve in the lab station and tell me if it says what valve it
is? I think it's a series 18 Swagelok Orifice 0.375 valve.
Can you look closely and check that for me?
Thanks Jithendar,
best,
Dr. Morrison
