PERSONAL EQUIPMENT LIST

This should be considered a basic list. If you bring all of these you'll do just fine. If you do forget something important, there will be some opportunities to pick things up on the road.

Keep in mind when you are packing:

1) we'll be pressed for space, so bring as little as possible. Ideal? One duffelbag, one sleeping bag, one day pack per person. We will plan to do laundry once, about halfway through the course.

2) It'll probably be hot, but we're hitting sort of the spring-summer transition so bring both warm and cool clothing, but also clothing that will protect your skin from UV. We'll be at 8000+ elevations sometimes, and we'll be out in the field most of the day. Daytime temperatures usually range from 60-105 F. Nighttime temperatures usually range from 40-65 F.

3) You need to drink at least 4 quarts of water per day to prevent dehydration - we will remind you during the day, but the more you drink the more comfortable you'll be.

4) bugs are attracted to perfume, so leave things that make you smell good at home (heavily scented shampoos also attract the bugs).
