Nikon LCD Hood HL-E2500

Nikon LCD Hood HL-E2500

The LCD monitor may be very difficult to see under strong sunlight. Nikon's LCD hood HL-E2500 provides a simple solution to this problem. This LCD hood surrounds the LCD monitor and blocks out light, thereby offering a clear view of the monitor. It consists of two pieces: a transparent frame and a black rectangular tube as shown below.

The use of this LCD hood is very simple. First, insert the rectangular tube through the larger opening of the transparent frame (left image below). Then, push the tube all the way through so that the projections and indentations are fit firmly (right image below).

Place the side of the frame with a small tab over the top edge of the camera (first image below). Make sure that the rectangular tube will line up with the LCD monitor (middle image below). There is a small bulge on the bottom edge of the frame. Make sure that it aligns with the tripod hole (right image below).

Now, snap the bottom edge of the frame onto the camera body. The result should look like the left image below. Notice that the smaller rectangular opening of the frame permits the use of the buttons if the frame is correctly aligned with the tripod hole (below right).

As shown in the image below, the shutter-release button, zoom buttons, multi-selector, and QUICK button are also accessible. With this LCD hood, the LCD monitor will be easy to see under strong sun light.

To remove the hood, just reverse the above procedure. Since the frame is only loosely attached to and may easily fall from the camera, do not hold the LCD hood only when it is on the camera.
