Inserting and Removing Compact Flash Memory Card

Inserting and Removing Compact Flash Memory Card

The camera comes with a Lexar 8X 16MB compact flash memory card (see the image below) that can hold about 31 1600×1200 images in JPG (compressed) format under the normal mode. Note that the actual number of images depends on the complexity of the recorded images.

A compact flash card

Follow the procedure below to insert and remove a compact flash card.

  1. Turn Off the Camera
Slide the mode selector on the top panel of the camera to the OFF position:

  2. Open the Battery Cover
Slide the battery chamber/memory card cover latch to the open position (below left), slide the cover out (below middle) and flip it open (below right).

  3. Insert the Memory Card
Insert the card into the CF card chamber as shown below:

Note that the card slot only accepts Type I CompactFlash cards. Do not try to insert memory cards of other types (e.g., SmartMedia cards).

  4. Close the Cover
Then, flip the cover back, slide it back into its original position.

To retrieve the memory card, reverse the procedure. More precisely, (1) open the battery cover, (2) locate the card eject lever (below left), (3) push the card eject lever down to pop up the compact flash card (below right), and (4) remove the card and close the cover.
