Determining the Firmware Version

All operations of Coolpix 950 are handled by a piece of software built into the camera. This program is usually referred to as a firmware. A new version of firmware not only eliminates some existing problems, but also introduces certain improvements. Therefore, knowing the version of the firmware being used is important.

To determine the version of firmware, hold the MENU button (see above figure), and then turn on the camera. The LCD monitor should display a message as follows:

E950Vx.y

where x.y is the version number. As of this writing, the most recent version is 1.3. If your version number is less than 1.3, please click here for update information.

To use the camera, you need to turn it off and on again!
