The Yoshida Adapter Tubes

The Yoshida Adapter Tubes

Actually, there are three Yoshida adapters of thread sizes 55mm, 58mm and 62mm. Click here for the details. Each of these adapter tubes is made from alloy and available in silver and black. The left image below shows a 55mm silver Yoshida adapter (part number 1055S). Like other tubes, when the adapter tube is mounted on a powered off FZ-10, the lens is deeply recessed as shown in the middle image below. When the camera is powered on, the camera lens extends to right below the filter/lens thread of the adapter tube (below right). As a result, a mounted converter or filter can be very close to the camera lens. Since the available thread sizes of the Yoshida adapters (i.e., 55mm, 58mm and 62mm) are the popular ones, one can easily find usable filters and converter lenses. Because the camera lens does not extend while zooming, one can use a lens cap and/or protection filter permanently on the adapter tube.

With step-up and step-down rings, one can mount many converter lenses. The left image below shows an Olympus WCON-07 0.7X wide angle on a Yoshida 55mm adapter tube. Since the WCON-07 has a 55mm thread, no step ring is needed. The second image below shows a Canon TL-55 1.4X teleconverter on a Yoshida 55mm adapter tube. Again, since the TL-55 has a 55mm thread, no step ring is required. The right image below shows an Olympus TCON-14B 1.45X telephoto converter on a Yoshida 55mm adapter tube. Since the TCON-14B has a 62mm thread, a 55-62mm step-up ring is needed.
