Major changes to the outlet are desireable, such as opening up the outlet so that the stream can be seen from the Portage.  However, this will require significant engineering as it would affect the stability of the entire walkway.  In addition, the Portage is quite deep on the other side of the walkway.

While the long term recommendation is to significantly alter the outlet, a practical interim solution is to make the area around the outlet appear more natural.  Both plans are being developed.
