EFFECTS OF EXPANDING DEVELOPMENT

Developing the Huron Creek Watershed Management Plan

As development moves up the Huron Creek Watershed, changes in flows of water impact greater lengths of the creek.   Detaining or releasing excessive amounts of storm runoff can both affect the health of the creek.  Besides protecting the wetlands in the watershed, which can serve as a buffer to changes in water flows, maintaining a healthy creek involves maintaining flows close to predevelopment levels at each new development up the watershed.
