Development
unavoidably alters the flow of water in a watershed. Minimizing
the impact of development on the hydrology of the surrounding area is
the main objective of storm water management. More specifically,
the objectives are to:
- Identify
methods for getting post-development storm water runoff to mimic pre-development
runoff (e.g. Best Management Practices (BMPs) and LIDs).
- Address any
erosion issues that exist.
- Encourage
future developments to consider the watershed’s hydrology
- Create
awareness of storm water issues within the community,
- Assist
businesses in improving their storm water management practices.
