Large parking lots around the watershed pile often serve as storage places for snow during the winter months.   In the spring when this snow melts, increased runoff and sediment enter the M-26 stormwater drains.   These drains eventually empty back into the creek downstream, bringing with the water increased salt, sand, and other sediments.
