Welcome

Welcome to my faculty website. I am a professor in the Department of Mathematical Sciences, specializing in representation theory of symmetric and algebraic groups as well as algebraic combinatorics.
Research
My research focuses on modular representation theory of symmetric groups, and algebraic groups and algebraic combinatorics.
Current Projects
- Project 1: Identities in Symmetric Group Character Tables, where we explore the properties of \(\chi^{\lambda}(\mu)\).
- Project 2: Extensions between simple modules for symmetric group.

Generating functions for fixed points of the Mullineux map
European Journal of Combinatorics 127 (2025) 104141, https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ejc.2025.104141
This paper derives generating functions for fixed points of the Mullineux map, for \(e\) arbitrary.

Palindrome partitions and the Calkin–Wilf tree
The Ramanujan Journal, Volume 65, pages 1073–1085, (2024), Published: 20 August 2024, joint with Karlee Westrem, https://doi.org/10.1007/s11139-024-00927-1
This paper, co-authored with Karlee Westrem, defines and explores palindrome partitions. Each partition has an associate binary sequence, and we study those partitions where the sequence is a palindrome. We find interesting generating functions and connections with prime numbers.

Partitions with Fixed Points in the Sequence of First-Column Hook Lengths
Cuthbertson, P., Hemmer, D.J., Hopkins, B. et al. Ann. Comb. (2024). https://doi.org/10.1007/s00026-024-00714-1
This paper, co-authored with P. Cuthbertson, B. Hopkins, and W. Keith, investigates partitions with fixed points in the sequence first-column hook lengths. For example we find generating functions for partitions \(\lambda\) with a fixed hook \(h_{i,1} = i\).
Teaching
In Spring 2025 I am teaching the following courses:
- MA 3203: Introduction to Cryptography
- MA 4208: Optimization and Graph Algorithms
Outreach
I am passionate about engaging the community in mathematics. I run the Copper Country Math Circle, a program that brings together local students to explore exciting mathematical concepts through interactive activities.
