The coaches from 3-4 today were exceptional!

Response: Thank you for the compliment. All our coaches work hard to review material and help students.

"there should be two sign in station on by both entrances so that students sign in. Or maybe there should be a card tap or something to make the process more accurate and proficient. There are more times than not where I forget to sign in because Im sitting on the other side of the room."

Response: We appreciate that you wish to sign in using the sign-in station. The tap card system was prone to high error and slow rate of error resolution since our IT staff is overworked. It also was an expensive system that cost us in excess of several thousand dollars a semester. The current system is far more cost effective and has a lot of automation in the background that informs the ELC director of ELC usage and feedback. We will probably continue with this "home grown raspberry pi" based alternative for the foreseeable future.

Your suggestion to have a second sign-in station is duly noted. However, since we do not have a budget to purchase another monitor, it is not something we may do in the immediate future. There is some software development that would be necessary for this. If you are interested in volunteering to help with this, the ELC faculty coordinator would be thrilled to have a conversation with you! :)

"The learning centerwould be even better if there were tutors to teach one on one"

Response: Coaches do help one-on-one at the moment. Perhaps you mean that you require personalized tutoring? One-on-one discussions amounting to tutoring are best reserved for between student and primary course instructor rather than a student and ELC coach.

Please consider contacting your course instructor during office hours for this. This would actually help your instructor change the way they teach a course. When you visit your instructor during office hours, you are invariably providing them with valuable feedback on concepts you found difficult. This allows them to tweak their lectures or provide supplementary material to solidify your understanding.

"The ELC needs better computers, loaded with the Altair suite, so students can work on their FEA and other projects critical to being a mechanical engineer. The ELC needs new computers which can run FEA" Response: There are plenty of computer labs on-campus.. most notably just one floor below the ELC *and* the compuer lab that is IN the ELC. The PCs in these labs are equipped with FEA software and have been built specifically for intense computation. Please consider using these. These computer labs are also maintained by our helfpul IT staff and are well appointed with tables, lighting and space to work in,
