I was
reviewing our lectures and I thought I'd share with you some questions
that I think we covered in the last few weeks. Some questions
like this may appear on exams in this class.

Exam 3 Questions:
1. How
are Reynolds number and friction factor related to dimensional analysis?
2. How
does pipe roughness affect fluid drag in a pipe?
3. What
is the definition of hydraulic diameter? Why has this quantity
been invented?
4. What
is the difference between “creeping” flow around a sphere and other
types of flow around a sphere? What observations would allow you
to distinguish between the two?
5. How
can we calculate pressure drop in a packed bed? What would we
need to know about the bed?
6. What
is the difference between form drag and friction drag? In what
kinds of circumstances do these quantities impact engineering questions?
