"...a 50-year-old ad executive
whose life is practically perfect:
he commands the respect of his
employees, he loves his wife Emiko
(Kanako Higuchi) and his daughter
will marry soon. But... Saeki
[begins to have] trouble remembering
names and confusion sets in. His wife
convinces him to visit a doctor, who
delivers a devastating diagnosis:
early-onset Alzheimers..."
My Comments:
Movie tries to show the progression
of Alzheimers from a patient's view.
The direction was okay and the acting
is generally good (a little overacting
here and there but mostly okay).
Most people know Ken Watanabe from his
more recent American movie roles such
as "Last Samurai" and "Batman Begins",
plus the recent movie "Inception".
Here, he shows a more personal touch --
he is the executive producer of the
movie, and he gets to display his
emotional range.
