Length: 91 mins
Media: DVD, color
Summary: ( by Stephen Kirkham, via www.imdbd.com)
"Ten...focuses on ten conversations between a female driver
in Tehran and the passengers in her car. Her exchanges with
her young son, a jilted bride, a prostitute, a women on her
way to prayer and others, shed light on the lives and
emotions
of these women whose voices are seldom heard."
My Comments:
Much like "taxicab confessions", but I do find this film
way more,
much more interesting because of the interesting
conversations
coupled with my ignorance of Iranian culture. Of
course, I never
know if it is real or staged (probably mixed)...I hope
someone
could clarify. There is a strong focus on the women's
perspective.
I think the director Abbas Kiarostami is an acquired taste.
He seems to be interested in exploring film as a
voyeuristic media
( I just wish he'd not inserted the numbers between the
episodes.)
