Summary: (by wikipedia.org)
"C (Casey Affleck) is a struggling musician
living with his wife M (Rooney Mara) in a small
suburban house in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
...One day, C is killed in a car accident just
outside his house. At the hospital, he awakens
as a ghost covered in a white sheet...C's ghost
leaves the hospital and returns to his house,
watching his wife grieve. He continues watching
her for days and weeks..."
My Comments:
Nicely done and acted. It starts really slow,
almost testing the audience's patience, but it
picks up in the middle. It is not a horror
flick, but instead a surreal exploration
of love and mourning. Not for everyone, but
can be an interesting exploration of after-life.
The choice of having the ghost represented by
a sheet with two eyes can be distracting at
first, even hokey...but I got used to it fast
and found it worked well for the narrative
(because other alternatives of better special
effects can be distracting or annoying as well).
