Best friends Davy and Ally have just returned to
their hometown of Edinburgh to resume a civilian
life after a military tour of duty in Afghanistan.
...Things are difficult enough for Davy and Ally
to return to that civilian life but things have
a potential to get worse with anything negative
happening in their respective lives, with Liz
[Davy's sister] and Yvonne [Liz's friend] needing
to look after themselves regardless of Ally and
Davy's recent difficult military duty. What happens
is affected by issues happening between Rab and
Jean [Davy and Liz's parents] as they celebrate
their
twenty-fifth wedding anniversary..."
My Comments:
Mostly cheerful Scottish musical based on the stage
play with the same name. Not my usual choice for
movie showing, but we just want to mix it up a bit.
The plot is definitely melodramatic, romantic and
predictable...but I really like the music.
The music (except for the instrumental interludes)
are by The Proclaimers, a very popular twin duo based
in Scotland. Just a fun movie for the summer.
Filmed in Edinburgh, so it has a nice, albeit brief,
view of the city.
