The Remote Sensing Seminar Series (UN401)

This is required for three terms, and the class is built around an interdisciplinary seminar series on remote sensing topics. This gives an introduction to the rapidly developing research field for our students. It is meant for students in the Minor program but is open to all graduate and undergraduate students interested in remote sensing. The class is offered every term. The theme of the Fall 1998 class was "Remote Sensing, Earth Systems and Global Change", and featured a seminar by Nobel Laureate Dr. Paul Crutzen.

This image of Santa Maria volcano in Guatemala combines Landsat imagery and digital elevation data to study the effects of volcanic activity on the landscape and the potential landslide hazards to the downslope communities.
