Terminated Cylindrite Crystals

Itos mine, Oruro, Bolivia

Very rare, terminated crystals of the unusual mineral cylindrite. These are 0.5 mm tall and are associated with franckeite, wurtzite, boulangerite, pyrite, and quartz. For an excellent reference on the structure and morphology of cylindrite, see: S. Wang and P. R. Buseck (1992) Cylindrite; the relation between its cylindrical shape and modulated structure.
