Arches Photo Overview
Caliche nodules and calcrete
at the top of the Tidwell Member of the Jurassic Morrison Formation near the
megatracksite.
Petrified Wood in
the Saltwash Member of the Morrison Formation.
Lacustrine
sediments were deposited in this area to form the Brushy Basin Member of the
Morrison Formation. It is overlain by the Cretaceous Cedar Mountain and Dakota
Formations. The Cedar Mountain is discontinuous and not present at every site.
What might have been responsible for its uneven occurrence?
Contorted bedding
in the Dewey Bridge Member along the road to the Windows Section and near the
pull-off for the Garden of Eden.
Double arch in the
Windows Section of Arches National Park.
A Pothole arch
along the Windows drive. Pothole arches form in a fundamentally different
manner than the other arches shown in the previous photos on this page.
