01/10/2002 News from Mary Zanoni about my Dad
My father (Joe Zanoni, Jr.) passed away on thursday, January 3rd, 2001. His death was very peaceful and he was never in any great pain. All his children were able to spend time with him in the days before he died, and most of us were there with him as he passed. The funeral was held on Monday, January 7th at St. Barbara's church in Vulcan, MI. He will be missed by all of us.

11/20/2001 News from Mary Zanoni about my Dad
For those of you that have not heard: My family learned that our father (Joe Zanoni, Jr.) has terminal cancer in his
lungs and liver. He is only expected to live about 6 months. They have sent him home from the hospital where he will have
Hospice care. Many of my brothers and sisters are there with him and also my mother. My Mom and Dad are taking this
wonderfully. My Dad is in great spirits. He is not in pain - just weak and tires easily. Please keep us in your prayers.
And if you are so moved, send a note to my Dad. I am sure he will appreciate it immensely. E-mail me if you need the address.
Or you can e-mail me a note for him and I will make sure he gets it.  Mary.

9/1/2000 News from Mary Zanoni about webpage updates
My Mother and Father-in-law, Laura and Gene Louis, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on AUgust 19, 2000. The whole family traveled to Newport, Rhode Island, where Laura grew up and they were married, to celebrate the occasion. We all had a wonderful time being together, seeing relatives in the area, and eating scrumptious seafood. I have added a section for the Louis Family with pictures from this trip and some of their geneology. Laura's ancestors came from England in the 1600's. Some fought in the Civil War. Many were seafaring fisherman. Gene's family came from Germany and from Belgium. Gene's great-grandfather from Belgium lived and worked at the Fayette steel mill in the upper peninsula of Michigan in the late 1800's. Fayette is now a beautiful state park showcasing the ghost town and industrital buildings of the steel mill.

My sisters, Theresa and Josephine, and our Mother, had a wonderful trip  to the
Zanolini reunion in Pennsylvania this month. I have now added a whole lot of info
and pictures about my Mom's (Zanolini) family tree. For you Zanolini's, be sure to
look under Zanoni pictures for some historical photos of my family (Joe and Catherine).

In general, my life has been busy with work and travel this summer. So far I've been to
Lake Tahoe for a good friend's wedding, Kansas to be with Louie, and Pennsylvania.
In a few weeks I'll be going to Newport, Rhode Island for my in-laws 50th wedding celebration.

In my family, niece Liz Baciak will be marrying next Memorial Day, and nephew David Zanoni
(Mike and Valeria's son) will be marrying soon too. Nephew Jeff Jozwiak and his wife, Heather,
are expecting a child in November. Everyone is fine. Hope to see many of you here and there!

1/17/2000 News from Mary Zanoni (Joseph's daughter) about our Noble Heritage.:
I have added the translations of two letters to my Aunt Paolina Zanoni Rauzi from her (and my father's) cousin, Giovanna Pancheri. They were written in 1978 in Italy and contain information about the fact that Poalina's mother, Florence Luchi Zanoni, was the daughter of Fedele Magagna Luchi, who was the daughter of Giovanni Magagna and Fedele Zanoniani Magagna. From these letters, it appears that the Magagna family was of nobility in the town of Revo, Italy in Val di Non. They were related to other noble families, in particular, Manincor and Rossi. (I am not sure exactly how yet). Also, Fedele Zanoniani was of the noble family of the Zanoniani's from San Zeneno. I do not know where San Zenone is, but perhaps it is another way of speaking of the town of Sanzeno. I will let you all know whatever I learn.

11/10/99  News from Mary Zanoni Joseph's daughter) about New Zealand, etc.:
The new picture on the main web page is of me on a large spectator boat in Auckland, New Zealand. I was there for a week to watch the races leading up to the America's Cup in February. The boats were awesome and the country is fabulous. It was very easy to get around, and every person I met was just a friendly as could be. I was out on the water most everyday, and when I wasn't I took a few short tours around the city and up north. It was all fabulous. The Italians won every race they were in and are in the lead for winning the right to challenge the New Zealand in February. Check out http://www.louisvuittoncup.com or http://www.americascup.org

8/4/99 News from Mary Zanoni Joseph's daughter) about geneology:
Hello all! Recently I have been researching Nonna's heritage (Luchi->Magagna->Zanoniani).
I have it from sources that Nonna's mother, Fidele Magagna, was a Marchessa (marquis) which is halfway between a Countess and a Duchess. I have been trying to verify this, but have not found an official record of it yet. From stories I have been told, the nobility was given to the family because of good work. I am thinking that it may have been Nonna's great grandfather, Mario Zanoniani that was given the title.

If anyone has any information that can help with this search, or any other helpful information, I would appreciate hearing from you. I have updated my web page with the geneology as I have it composed for the moment. Take a look at that, and let me know if there are corrections, or additions.
Mary
