Sources of Organic Contaminants
Organic chemicals enter water supplies from a variety of sources, including municipal and hazardous waste landfills, agricultural and industrial activities, ‘midnight dumping’ and leaking underground storage tanks.
Due to the slow rate of movement of groundwater and slow rates of chemical reaction within groundwater, it is often difficult to clean up subsurface water supplies on site.
