The Keweenaw Fault is a major thrust fault which literally bisects the Peninsula, and its movement raised the north half of the Peninsula by many thousands of feet.  The fault is a big factor that controls shorelines, road and river patterns, waterfalls, groundwater resources and more. The lecture traces features along the fault, shows evidence and recognition criteria for the fault, describes how the fault was discovered and how it has influenced the local landscapes and human settlement.
