Mining Waste

Ore Minerals usually make up a small fraction of the rock in which they are found.  To get them out, a lot of rock is mined that isn’t used (poor rock and tailings).  It gets separated and then is discarded.  Where?  The places this waste ends up in the Keweenaw are called poor rock piles, stamp sands and tailings ponds.
