Santiaguito has small explosive eruptions numerous times each day.  At dawn when cloud free conditions prevail, especially in the dry season (Nov-April), It is possible to see eruptions from above.  Here is one example.  These summit views are useful for some instruments such as thermal cameras. and have led to a cylindrical model for Santiaguito’s conduit.
