ITOP - ICO intercomparison
Comparison between ITOP measurements during takeoffs and landings from Horta Airport and PICO-NARE measurements on Pico mountain. The ITOP measuremts are extracted from the met*, chem*, and pos* data sets of 11/15/2004 (or earlier). The ICO data point is a 30 min average around the time when the plane climbed or descended through the altitude of the ICO (2225 m). If no marker is plotted for the ICO it means that there was no data during the 30 min time period. Since the plane was not necessarily near the ICO when it climbed through 2225 m (e.g. when on a westbound climb from Horta), discrepancies might arise from the location differences. Note that both ITOP and PICO-NARE data are preliminary field data.

Errorbar explanation for ICO data
O3: offset uncertainty: +- 1 ppb (not plotted); calibration pending comparison of our TEI to NIST/CMDL. ITOP - MTU comparison indicated ITOP/MTU = 0.98. The data in the plots is not adjusted for this. Errobars shown are the range of O3 values at ICO during the 30 min period.
CO: upper errorbar: uncertainty: +- 6.6%, lower errorbar: 2 standard errors = 2 sigma / sqrt(n)
RH: errorbar is range of values at ICO in 30 min interval
