Text:
Numerical Methods for Differential Equations (2nd ed) by J. C. Butcher

ISBN: 978-0-470-72335-7

Objectives:
This course is intended to introduce common practical numerical methods for ordinary differential equations. The text provides an extended (but extremely practical) introduction to numerical methods for ODE. We will cover as much of the material in the text as possible. Substantial computer exercises will be required in this class. No particular computer language is required. Specifically, programs can be written in C, C++, Fortran, Fortran 90, Mathematica, Maple, or Matlab. There may be some students in the class with little programming experience.  I will run a "Programming Boot Camp"  for these students in the second week of the course.
I am participating in a workshop ot the IMA in Minneapolis first the first week of class. Dr Lewis will be covering those classes for me. I look forward to meeting you all in the second week.
