- Numerical Solution of Partial Differential Equations
- by Morton and Mayers (2nd Edition)
- Objectives:
- This course introduces Finite Difference Methods to solve prototype Partial Differential Equations of Mathematical Physics on regular domains and includes preliminary material on Numerical Linear Algebra and Error analysis. We will cover most of the text.
- Reading:
- Reading is assigned in each class meeting to be completed before the next class. Since the lectures will typically focus only on highlighting the main points, it is critical that you do this reading to pick up important details and ask questions about points that are unclear.
- Homework and Code:
- Homework and coding exercises will be assigned.
- Exams and Projects:
- There will be a final exam and numerous programing assignments during the semester.
