Dr. Bergvall teaches a
variety of graduate and undergraduate linguistics courses concerned with
such issues as multimodal analysis (the sociolinguistic and discourse
analysis of oral, written, and electronic texts); gender and language, particularly focusing on media representations;
qualitative research methods; language and communication among humans,
animals, and computers; how language affects and is affected by society;
what the future holds for English as a world language and its
effect on the death of other languages and dialects.
