Statistics

We anticipate that students will specialize in either Applied Statistics or in Mathematical Statistics & Probability. Students in the Applied Statistics option will take a qualifying exam over material covered in the following courses:

• Linear Algebra (MA5330)
• Mathematical Statistics (MA5711, MA5712)
• Linear Models (MA5731)
• Regression and Experimental Design (MA4710, MA4720)
• Multivariate Statistical Methods (MA5741).

Students who specialize in Mathematical Statistics & Probability will take a qualifying exam over material covered in the following courses:

1.

The Graduate Linear Algebra course (MA5330)

2.

Any two of the following three required sequences:

• Real and Complex Analysis (MA5401, MA5402, MA5405)
• Stochastic Processes (MA5721)
• Mathematical Statistics (MA5711, MA5712).
