Grid Simulation, Modeling, and Optimization (GriSMO) Research Group

Sumit

Grid Simulation, Modeling, and Optimization (GriSMO) group at Michigan Tech is led by Dr. Sumit Paudyal. He is currently an Associate Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. Dr. Paudyal obtained PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, in 2012; MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada in 2008; and B.E. in Electrical Engineering from Tribhuvan University, Nepal, in 2003. Dr. Paudyal received NSF CAREER Award in 2018; Best Professor of the Year Award in 2018 by the Eta Kappa Nu (HKN); and was the Finalist of Michigan Tech Teaching Excellence Award in 2014. Dr. Paudyal is currenly serving as an Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid.

GriSMO group has been working on the following area in Power Grids:

  • Distribution Grid Modeling and Optimization
  • Building-to-grid (B2G) and Vehicle-to-grid (V2G) Integration
  • Power System Control and Protection
  • Synchrophasor applications in Power Grids
