Misconceptions:

Hazards are random in both time and place and just bad luck.

The chance of natural hazards is about the same everywhere.

If we run out of oil and gas we will just find more.

There is no connection between my life and anything to do with rocks.

There is nothing we can do to reduce the effects of natural hazards.

Energy is a fuel.

We have to buy electric power.

Green energy leaves no carbon footprint.

The occurrence of natural hazards varies from place to place and day to day according to the environmental features that prevail. This means we can mitigate by understanding how earth works.  That same knowledge will help us harness energy for our well being.
